Monster Truck Show

Our big Valentine's Day event this year was taking the kids to Monster Jam. Caleb loves Monster Trucks, they are a close second only to Speed Racer. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it- but if you know me I would rather be at a Monster Truck show then a fashion show. It was so much fun. Loud, fast and amazing. I can't believe how high some of those Monster Trucks can get above the cars they are jumping over. Oh and Grave Digger-- Caleb's favorite, did a move over the row of cars that pretty much had the truck up on it's back end going the whole distance over the cars. Amazing that it could do that and not flip onto it's back. They did have a couple that flipped, but man that's when the fans would get really into it. Two of the times the truck flipped over and got all the way back up onto it's tires. But one time it stayed on it's side, but it was after an amazing run. It was El Torro Loco. The truck was orange/red with big bull horns coming out of the sides by the front doors. The kids thought he was pretty cool too. Oh and Chloe's favorite was Monster Mutt. A truck that had dog ears flopping down to the sides and a tail out the back. All in all a fun Valentine's Day.

Rollerskating

Has it been over 10 years since you have been rollerskating? Well it had been for me, until last weekend. Mike and Valeri decided to have a rollerskating birthday party. Chloe and Caleb were able to fit into the smallest size rollerskates. Of course they think they are invinsible and tried taking off the minute the skates were laced up. Chloe made it about 5 feet before falling directly on her tush. (Not a time to like being potty trained.) We all got our skates on and headed for the small practice area. As long as we didn't hold their hands they did pretty well holding on to the railing. If we held their hands it was like we were holding them up as well.

It was a fun night. The kids skated on/off from about 7:45pm when we got there until right before closing at 10pm. Papa Mark didn't skate because of his knee. He sat and watched and gave the kids good breaks to eat popcorn and slushies with him. It was definitely a good workout helping the kids on the main rink. We would each take a hand and skate around, giving our biceps a good workout, then switch sides after a few times around. (gotta even out the biceps ya know!!) I might even be motivated to lace up my old rollerblades now. We'll see.

Ag. Fest

So this year wasn't near as exciting as last year. Caleb was big into tractor's last year, when we got to the show he couldn't sit still and ran from one tractor to another for the entire 2 hours we were there.

This year he was excited but more about playing with the shifters, steering wheels and buttons. I'm thinking we'll have to try the monster truck show or race cars. He's a real boy's boy.

So we have a ton of pictures from the show, but I am only posting like 3, because well to many people, a tractor is a tractor!!

Bartlett Jumping Contest

If there was a jumping contest for kids I think Chloe would win, hands down. The other night they wanted to jump on the bed, Chris thought he might break the bed, so they opted for the couch instead. You can't tell in the pictures but Caleb does more of a hop down off the couch, one foot at a time, still not ready to let loose and jump.

Chloe on the other hand was trying to go long and high. She was having so much fun. The only problem, now when we go to other people's houses they want to bounce or jump on their couches too.

Riding Bikes

Last week we actually had a few really nice days in a row. It was at least 50 degrees outside and the sun was out. The kids wanted to ride their bikes, and since it was so nice, we went outside. Our street is usually only busy in the morning and after like 4:30 in the evening. So they got to ride in front of our house for a while. They are about even in terms of riding. Both can ride the tricycle really well, and this summer Caleb shocked us all and started riding Chloe's John Deere bike, with training wheels. I'm thinking that they could both be learning to ride a bike w/o training wheels at the same time!!!
