Chloe, Caleb and Chris went up 4Wheelin' at his uncle and aunt's place. Big open field and dirt for the kids to play in and ride in. A few of Chris's cousin's and their kids were up there as well. They had kid sized 4wheelers for the kids to ride. It was Chloe and Caleb's first solo ride. Glad I wasn't there to watch first hand. I would've been way overprotective. They came home covered literally from head to toe in dirt with huge smiles on their faces. Then they showed me the pictures and the videos. They were even laughing at the videos where they were tossed off the 4wheelers. Tought kids I have!! Here's the videos of the 2 of them. Caleb gets up after he falls and gets back on with in a few minutes. And Chris said they both got flipped because they kept looking back at him instead of where they were going. So next time he'll have to be in front of them.
Little stories and tid bits to keep you up to date on our happenings and maybe put a smile on your face too!

Chloe's 1st day of Soccer Practice
Yesterday was the first day of Soccer practice for miss Chloe. She will have practice once a week and then games on Saturdays, starting Sept. 11th. While she loves it, it was poor planning on my part- as the games are all Saturdays during September and October. (Saturdays at our house during the fall are usually filled with Beaver Football games.)
She loved playing with the other kids, who are all 5-6 years old. I think the most fun she had was playing Sharks and Minnows. For soccer this game is a little different. The minnows dribble the ball past the sharks with their feet, trying to not let the shark kick their ball away. Most of the kids it seemed wanted to become sharks, so they went slowly across trying to get caught. This was the case for Chloe. Then when she became a Shark, she started sounding like a Dinosaur or Lion, growling at the kids as she ran up to them to get their ball. I can only imagine what these games are going to be like. I picture Chloe running after kids flailing her arms and growling at them. At least we know she is having fun!!!
Oh her other favorite part of the first day was getting her jersey. She kept pointing to the back of the shirt at the #4 on the back and then at the little soccer guy on the front. Then saying "I got a jersey".
Here's a couple pictures. It was a good way for me to end the day after receiving some bad news about my hip at the doctor's earlier in the day. (details at post below) The little things that kids do and say help put a positive spin on things.

Chloe's meeting of the players

Cheesy grin, gettin' ready to do a drill.

Weaving through the cones.

The Amazing sky Caleb and I got to watch during practice.

Christy 12 week Post Op hip update
So I did my 12 week check up with Dr. Herzka today. Not good news I am afraid, but at least she could tell me something. First I found out my tear was 1-1 1/2 cm long/ wide? It took 4 anchors to anchor it back in place. They also shaved the ball as well as the socket, oh and I found out that I had a cyst or blister on the cartilege next to my tear. (Now I know to ask very specific questions and keep asking until they are answered.!!!!)
So now I have to go have a cortisone shot in my hip socket to help relieve some of my pain. Followed by 3 weeks of PT with a specialist who helps with soft tissue. Dr. Herzka thinks that I have a big band of scar tissue that has formed. That is connected from the hip flexor to the labrum. If the cortisone shot and specialized PT don't work then it sounds like I have to have more surgery. She said she would have to go in and cut/ or loosen the scar tissue. Which is fairly easy, but they have to get into where it's at- which is pretty much like the original arthoscopy!!! Really hoping and crossing my fingers that the shot and PT work. I don't really want to have to start over!!

Chloe and Ice Cream
My 2 Pet Doctors
We went to check out the Children's Museum new exhibit Pet Doctor, before our membership expires at the end of the month.
The kids loved it. Chloe and Caleb were both doctors, examining animals, checking out their x-rays. Chloe even tried her hand at being a receptionist.
Caleb wasn't as into the animals as he was climbing in and out of the animal bathing area. And Chloe loved that they had the cones to put around the animals heads. How excited she was that when we went for a walk a couple days later she saw a dog with a cone on. She's yelling at me, "look mom a dog with one of the cone things."
I think we will definitely hit it up one last time before the end of the month.

Caleb's Bed

After asking almost every weekend for the past 6 months, Caleb's bed has finally been lifted. Actually it was given "jump jacks". His bed is a Speed Racer bed, so he wanted Jump Jacks put on it to make it taller. Chris stablized the bed by anchoring it to the wall. He also built a little ladder at the foot of the bed for Caleb to climb in and out. For now we also have a bed rail up to prevent falling out.
He loves his "new" bed.
