Fun at Children's Museum

We went to check out the new exhibit at the Children's Museum. It's all about Australia. Not much for the kids to do in the new exhibit, but Chloe liked learning about Australia and seeing where on the map it is in relation to where we are.

They mostly had fun playing in the grocery area. That is there favorite area in the whole museum. They never play "picnic" or food stuff at home, but they love it there. Chloe was very intense while picking out groceries, and then headed over to the cafe to become a chef and whip up some food for me.

And a Mom brag from me.....Caleb is now writing his name all by himself. So whenever he has paper and a pen he likes to write his name. He practiced writing it on paper at the Museum and then again on the chalkboard in the Cafe area. He is so proud of himself everytime he writes it.

I'm so proud of him. It's such a great feeling to see him doing such great things. Oh- can't really do a picture of it, but Chloe is now working on reading the word family lists. Like (cat, rat, bat, sat, hat, mat). We are working on one list a week. At night we read books that have lots of the words she is learning and she can now pick them out while we are reading the books. Such a big learning time right now.

All the frustration is worth it when they get that huge smile and realize they can do it.

A Beautiful Day at the Zoo

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to the Zoo. It was nice and sunny, and we got to see most of the animals. The most exciting for me to see was the Lions. They were finally out and in a spot where I could get a good picture.

The Mountain Goats

Rilyn and Conlee sliding down the log.

Chloe and Rilyn riding the wood horses.

In the Africa area there is a bubble the kids can stand up in to look in the exhibit. Last time there weren't any animals in it. This time there were, so Chloe and Rilyn are a little surprised to see things moving around in there.

There was a bird flying around and a Mongoose running around.

A Giraffe inside eating. They are so amazing up close.

This weekend was mine and Chloe's turn for a date. She loves, loves, loves Dinosaurs. So about a month ago when I saw the ad for Walking With Dinosaurs I knew that's where we would go. We took the Max to the Rose Garden. The Max is also a big hit, cuz she gets to sit in her own seat without being buckled in and can watch the world go by out the window. Our train was running a little late, so we got there just as it started. (Good planning I guess, cuz then we didn't have to sit around and wait!!)

The dinosaurs were amazing, and the sounds were so real. We were up pretty high, so in the pictures the dinosaurs look pretty far away. But it was great. After the intermission, Chloe actually wanted to move higher up because as she put it "that guys head is in my way!!" As you probably see in a few pics, his head was in the way.

It was pretty loud in the Rose Garden, so Chloe had her ears plugged for most of it, but she had lots of fun. When it was over we waited in line for a program. It was a huge book with amazing pictures of the dinosaurs and in the back how they are actually made. Chloe hugged it to herself and said "this is my most favoriteist book ever". Enjoy the pictures.
